Getting Up From the Floor Independently/Unassisted

Hello friends! Made these videos for anyone struggling or who knows someone struggling to get up from the floor without assistance (sorry, no microphone today, so turn the volume up). When is the last time you tried to get up from the ground independently (i.e., using your body only - no help from objects or people)?

These strategies are a good starting point to either...

1) actually get up from the floor or...

2) identify limiting factors preventing someone from getting up from the floor (limited strength, mobility, etc.)

Strategy 1: Using 2 feet. Some People find this strategy more comfortable. Typically, they have decent hip mobility but lack overall strength in the lower body.

Strategy 2: Using 1 foot. Some people find this strategy more comfortable. Typically, they lack hip or knee mobility (possibly from surgery) but have decent lower body strength.

I've worked with a number of 65+ clients/patients that have benefited greatly from these strategies, even if just to become more confident in themselves and the way their bodies move. Every 65+ client I work with learns how to do these or build up to doing them.

My awesome client, Jackie, actually got up from the floor independently for the first time in...well, I actually don't know. But it was long enough for her to cry tears of joy when she stood up on her own. THAT is what it's all about, friends.

Please have a great day everyone! I hope this quick tutorial can be useful to you, a friend or a loved one.
